Summary:
The program starts with bus excursion from Helsinki to Turku early in the morning August 25th. A few stops along the way. August 25-26th seminar is held in Turku Castle.
August 25th dinner / get together is directly after the seminar, dresscode: Casual
August 27th will be an optional excursion day taking all those participating from Turku back to Helsinki center or directly to the airport to catch evening flights leaving after 18.00.
If you do not participate in the excursion day, the most convenient way to travel back to Helsinki is by train.

1. Hotels in Helsinki
The program starts with bus excursion from Helsinki to Turku early in the morning August 25th. You may need to take a flight to Helsinki a day before (August 24th) and reserve a hotel room in Helsinki.
There are many hotels in Helsinki which couple of them are near Helsinki Railway station:

2. Independent program for Thursday, August 24th in Sveaborg / Suomenlinna
If you plan on coming to Helsinki a bit earlier, you are welcome to make a short tour of a couple of interesting lime related restoration sites in Suomenlinna, an island fortress next to Helsinki. You will be provided with a map and professional information on the sites. In the evening you are welcome to join a get-together at “C28, Pajasali” in Suomenlinna.

3. Bus excursion from Helsinki to Turku, August 25th
Friday's program starts with a bus excursion from Helsinki to Turku. The buses leave from Helsinki Railway Station. The exact point is shown in the figure below. If you will not participate in the bus excursion to Turku, please inform well before hand: reino.huuskonen@laurimehto.fi
Please make sure you arrive early enough.

4. The location of Turku Castle
Nordisk Kalkforum 2023-Finland seminar will be held in Turku Castle in Turku (Åbo). The exact lo-cation of Turku Castle is pointed in the map below.

5. Accommodation / Hotels

Nordisk Kalkforum 2023 has a cooperation agreement with Hotel Kakola in Turku.

The contract price (-15 %) can be obtained by mentioning ”Nordic Kalkforum 2023” via room reservation.
Room reservation can be done by contacting the sales service:

Rooms can be booked as long as there are enough rooms. The rooms are reserved up to one month before the seminar. The unsold rooms from the quota will be released one month before the seminar, but you can still book the room with contract price as long as there are enough rooms.

6. Going to Turku Castle
Walking
The distance between Hotel Kakola and Turku Castle is approximately 2 km (from market square ~3 km). From Hotel the trip should take about 25–30 minutes by walking.

Transport by local bus
The buses that run between the port, the bus station and the Turku-Harbor (line 1) pass by the Hotel Kakola and Turku Castle. The stop is in front of Turku Castle. Line 1 leaves from platform D1 of the market square (stop 1931, real-time schedule). To catch the bus you have to walk short trip from the hotel to the main road.

5 Driving car
Visitors with cars can park in the parking spaces along the streets near the castle. Almost all places are time-limited and require the use of a parking disk.
At the corner of Linnankatu and Vallihaudankatu (Vallihaudankatu 1) there is a 200-space parkinglot ”Harppuunaparkki”, where you can pay with coins, the most common payment cards and the Easy-park application. Parkinglot is open 24/7.
7. Friday dinner (August 25th) & Saturday lunch (August 26th)
Friday dinner will be held directly after the seminar in the king's hall of Turku Castle. A 3-course dinner is provided. Dresscode: Casual.
Saturday lunch / brunch will take place near by, at restaurant Kolmas Linja. The location of the restaurant is shown in the picture below.

8. Saturdays evening program
On Saturday, there is an opportunity to participate in a restaurant dinner at your own expense. Res-taurant reservations are made on the bus trip from Helsinki to Turku (25th August).
9. Moving to Helsinki Aiport / Helsinki City center from Turku
If you don´t participate in the excurion, you might need to travel independently back to Helsinki. You can easily get from Turku to Helsinki by train. There is a direct train connection from Turku to Hel-sinki-Vantaa airport. Trains to Helsinki depart from Turku Railway Station or Kupittaa Railway Station.

Excursion day, August 27th
The excursion day ends at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (17.15 o´clock), from where the bus continues to the center of Helsinki (17.45 o´clock).
